DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of April 13th, 2015 and April 20th, 2015

Hand cutting of steel beams is ongoing to remove the standing skeleton of the boiler house building. Hand demolition in The Refinery building continues. R. Baker completed the removal the Domino Sugar cranes along the East River and is completely demobilized. The cranes are currently staged on-site. A fencing contractor is onsite installing fence posts to build a fence around the temporary park being built on Site C (south of the Refinery).

At Site E, the noise barrier/perimeter fence installation was completed. Excavation and load-out of the top 5 feet of historic fill is ongoing.

DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of March 30th, 2015 and April 6th, 2015

Mechanical demolition is ongoing to remove the standing skeleton of the boiler house building. hand demolition continues in The Refinery building. The removal of the Domino Sugar cranes along the East River is complete and the contractor is completely demobilized. The cranes are currently staged on-site.

At Site E, the noise barrier/perimeter fence installation was completed. Excavation and load-out of the top 5 feet of historic fill is ongoing. The gravel truck ramp is in good condition and protective hay bales were installed around the storm drain inlet as well as proper signage being posted around the site.

DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of March 16th, 2015 and March 23rd, 2015

Soot removal and asbestos abatement was completed in the Boiler House stacks. Mechanical demolition is still necessary to remove the standing skeleton of the building. Preparations for interior hand demolition of The Refinery building has begun. The removal of the Domino Sugar cranes along the East River is complete and the cranes are currently stored on-site.

At Site E, the noise barrier/perimeter fence installation continues. The perimeter fence is nearing completion, but still needs the 4’ cants installed.

DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of March 2nd, 2015 and March 9th, 2015

Soot removal and asbestos abatement are ongoing inside the Boiler House stacks. Mechanical demolition will resume in the next 2 weeks. Preparations for interior hand demolition of The Refinery building are ongoing. A crane was installed on the north side of the property and is in the process of removing the Domino Sugar cranes along the East River.

Mobilization is occurring at “Site E”. Jersey barriers were installed along the Site E perimeter. Noise barrier/perimeter fence installation is occurring. Workers are excavating test pits to confirm the location of various utility lines. Weather permitting, excavation is planned to begin next week.

DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of February 16th, 2015 and February 23rd, 2015

Mobilization for construction has begun at “Site E”. Temporary orange barriers were installed along South 3rd and South 4th Streets. Temporary parking signs are currently posted until official signage is received from the DOT. Soot removal and asbestos abatement are ongoing inside the Boiler House stacks. Mechanical demolition will resume in the next 2 weeks.

Asbestos abatement is ongoing inside the Boiler House stacks. Mechanical demolition will resume once abatement is complete. Sorting and grading activities are ongoing throughout the site.

Site E is imminently going to begin construction. Mobilization onsite and the construction  fence will begin on the 16th of February.

DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of January 19th, 2015 and January 26th, 2015

Asbestos abatement is ongoing inside the Boiler House stacks. Mechanical demolition will resume once abatement is complete. Sorting and grading activities are ongoing throughout the site.

The work crew is beginning to remove debris from the upland site (Site E) as part of the pre-construction site prep.  A construction fence is planned to be installed around the perimeter of Site E towards the end of February.
