DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of June 22nd, 2015 and June 29th, 2015

Contractors continue hand demolition in The Refinery building. Removal of the bulkhead concrete decking on the north end of the Site continues to progress. Construction of the new park on Site C is ongoing.  At Site E shoring and support of excavation work were occurring.

At Site E shoring and support of excavation work, concurrently with excavations are occurring along the Site perimeter.

DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of June 8th, 2015 and June 15th, 2015

The community pop-up park that was located on Site E the last two summers has been relocated across the street and will be opening to the public July 4th weekend.  The waterfront park will feature a new paved pumptrack, run by Brooklyn Bike Park, and North Brooklyn Farm’s new space called The Farm on Kent.

The entrance to both spaces is located on Kent Avenue and South 4th Street.

Hand demolition in The Refinery Building Continues. Installation of a truck wash pad was completed on the North end of the Site adjacent to the truck staging area. The removal of the bulkhead concrete decking on the north end of the Site continues to progress.

At Site E shoring and support of excavation work, concurrently with excavations are occurring along the Site perimeter.  Building foundation drilling activities were ongoing along the south portion of the Site.

DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of May 25th, 2015 and June 1st, 2015

The boiler house demolition is completed. Hand demolition in The Refinery Building continues. Installation of new hay bale erosion control fence is occurring. A contractor has mobilized a barge with crane to begin removal of bulkhead concrete decking on the north end of the Site.

At Site E shoring and support of excavation work is occurring along the Site perimeter. Drilling activities were ongoing along the north side of the Site where test piles are being installed.

DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of May 11th, 2015 and May 18th, 2015

Hand demolition of steel beams is ongoing to remove the standing skeleton of the boiler house building, half of which has been completed. Hand demolition continues in The Refinery building. Three (3) test-piles are installed on the Site. Fencing was installed surrounding the temporary park located on Site C (south of the Refinery). Pavement removal at Site D is completed. Grading at Site C and D is completed. Cleanup of the waterside has started at Sites A and B

Excavation and load-out of the top 5 feet of historic fill at Site E is completed. The gravel truck ramp is in good condition, as is the stormwater catch basin protection installed on Kent Ave at the corners of South 3rd St and South 4th St. Shoring installation is occurring and test piles will be installed along the north side of the Site.

DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of April 27th, 2015 and May 4th, 2015

Hand demolition of steel beams is ongoing to remove the standing skeleton of the boiler house building. The hand demolition in The Refinery building is continuing. At the north edge of the Site near South 1st Street, they have begun removing the perimeter fence along the East River and placing the straw bales approximately 10 feet from the East River. Three (3) test-piles are installed on the Site. Fencing around the temporary park being built on Site C (south of the Refinery) is completed. Pavement removal is going on at Site D, adjacent to the East River. Grading at Site C and D is completed.

Excavation and load-out of the top 5 feet of historic fill at Site E is ongoing. US Pile & Foundation has one excavator operating today. The gravel truck ramp is in good condition, as is the stormwater catch basin protection installed on Kent Ave at the corners of South 3rd St and South 4th St. Proper signage is posted on the perimeter fence on the corners of South 3rd and Kent Ave, and South 4th and Kent Ave.

DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of April 13th, 2015 and April 20th, 2015

Hand cutting of steel beams is ongoing to remove the standing skeleton of the boiler house building. Hand demolition in The Refinery building continues. R. Baker completed the removal the Domino Sugar cranes along the East River and is completely demobilized. The cranes are currently staged on-site. A fencing contractor is onsite installing fence posts to build a fence around the temporary park being built on Site C (south of the Refinery).

At Site E, the noise barrier/perimeter fence installation was completed. Excavation and load-out of the top 5 feet of historic fill is ongoing.

DOMINO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:Week of March 30th, 2015 and April 6th, 2015

Mechanical demolition is ongoing to remove the standing skeleton of the boiler house building. hand demolition continues in The Refinery building. The removal of the Domino Sugar cranes along the East River is complete and the contractor is completely demobilized. The cranes are currently staged on-site.

At Site E, the noise barrier/perimeter fence installation was completed. Excavation and load-out of the top 5 feet of historic fill is ongoing. The gravel truck ramp is in good condition and protective hay bales were installed around the storm drain inlet as well as proper signage being posted around the site.
